This example is one of only 122 Targas produced for the North American market in 1998, the final year of the air-cooled Porsche 911. It comes finished in Arctic Silver over a Black interior with optional 8-way power-operated seats in supple leather. It was also factory-equipped with the Motor Sound Package and a 6-speed manual transmission sending power to the rear wheels. With some tasteful modifications including Gemballa side skirts, RS-style front splitters, and Kinesis wheels. Other accessories include an aluminum-trimmed gear knob and parking brake lever, TechArt pedal covers, custom black carpet floor mats with red “PORSCHE”’ logos, aluminum instrument dials, power windows and mirrors, a retractable sunshade, a glass wind deflector strip, a sound system, automatic climate control, cruise control, and an original Porsche CR-210 cassette stereo.
This 993 is equipped with an air-cooled 3.6-liter flat-six featuring a VarioRam induction system and the optional Motor Sound Package which adds a louder airbox and mufflers for a more aggressive tone. Service invoices show engine belts replaced in 2023 along with new steering rack boots, inner tie rods, valve cover gaskets, and a new battery.
Made in the years 1993 through 1998, the 993 was the last of the air-cooled Porsches, making it a true favorite among real 911 lovers for its resemblance to the original late-60s 911. For that brief 5 year time, it was only within the final three that Porsche created its Targa variant. In the time paving the way to its reveal, Stuttgart said that it would not create such a model, yet when 1995 came around, it was right there, highlighting a convertible body with a retractable glass rooftop. Final production year 993 Targa with just 41k miles.
